Talking of necros maybe i can use this opportunity to ask a question on the class.
Last night in the tombs we encountered a full necro team name "bomb 1" - "bomb 8" All my team was dead in about 5 seconds in one huge spike. Full health - 0 health. I have no experience with the necro class so can anyone tell me how this is done? |

N/Me Sucks them dry with a Mcdonalds staw to the neck. Blood all the way. Blood well sure comes in handy. Took 45 minutes to kill the Lych with my warrior group. 16 minutes with my guild and N/ME Solo, heck yeah. |

One nice thing about Curses is you don't have to put a lot of points into it to get some bang out of it. I'm a R/N and I've put most of my points into Ranger skills, but I Curses set at 6 and that provides a really nice complement.
I particularly like things like Suffering, Shadow of Fear, Suffering, and other things like that. I think these spells are really under-used by players. Most rookie necros go for the drains and damage spells and never move beyond much that. Try Shadow of Fear, sometime and see how effective it is. Even the toughest baddy can be brought to it's knees pretty quickly if you cut it's attack speed in half. |

Fire and Blood are awesome, and I have just enough left over for a decent Soul Reaping. N/E is a good choice. N/R kind of meh...Curses works a little better with the Ranger than it does with an Ele. N/W is fun stuff. Curses and Hammer Mastery is loads of fun. My other Necro...Mo/N is fun too...NECROS RULE!
I can't make a character and not have it be part Necro... |

To all those who don't like the N/R:
Wilderness survival = poison & traps Mix that with some curses and blood magic, and you'll be doing just fine. |

This is Freyas build from the Necromancer basics thread. Its very good in pve. Pvp has only worked for me if I have a good party around me. But in PVE I have basically done all the quest with henchmen.
Freyas Build: "Here's my PvE death necro build- it's generally an excellent build for PvE, though not something I'd care to try out in PvP. N/Mo Death Magic: 12+ Blood Magic: 7+ Healing Prayers: 8 Soul Reaping: 8+ Animate Bone Minions Death Nova Taste of Death Verata's Sacrifice Blood is Power{E} Heal Area Healing Breeze Restore Life The idea here is to raise minions when you can. Use Death Nova on the minions, and let them tank/attack for a while until they are killed or you need to kill them. Use BiP on your party members liberally to help increase their effectiveness, then use Taste of Death to get your health back, as well as a good amount of energy, and damage dealt via Death Nova. At the end of a battle, you should have about 4 minions(raised near the end of the battle), which you'll use Verata's and Heal Area to keep alive until the next battle. If you need more minions to help tank difficult enemies or large hordes, spend more time raising corpses- you don't necessarily have to keep death nova on all of them, just the ones that get attacked or that you kill yourself. I've had armies of 30-40 minions at times with this build when I felt like getting lots of them, and against difficult enemies, I'll generally just have a few at a time, and use those few that I have strategically. This character is good for increasing the survivability of a party(enemies often attack minions due to their low defense, meaning they're not attacking party members). It helps your allies- you can make sure that most of the casters in your party have enough energy to cast whatever they feel like. It also deals damage, dealing nearly 100 damage plus poison for each death nova that triggers. The downsides are that you aren't able to do a lot before you start to get corpses- you can use breeze and BiP to help your party until that point, but most of your skills are dead on your bar until you can get a corpse." Personally I had to use more blood magic until I got blood minions and death nova. After that its gravy with death magic....in Pve. |
